When driving somewhere for the first time in my new '90 GL, my wife kept saying "I feel air coming in somewhere". I gave a quick eyeball to the vent levers, and stuck my hand in front of the footwell vent and then the defroster. No air. She swore her side vent was closed. Then she said "I swear it's coming from BEHIND me!" Then it dawned on me--- it was the fourth lever! My 90 non-GL had only the basic three: defrost, hot-cold, footwell. I pushed the fourth lever over, and magically both the air and complaints stopped. Upon later inspection, I noted that all the individual vents except the one pointed at my wife from behind, which explains why only she felt it.

I noticed that the rear vent air wasn't warm, even though the heater valve was typically out of adjustment. Do the rear vents blow unheated air, like the dash vents did on the older Vanagons?
