Glad to hear you got a "new" Vanagon Rob. --- :^)

Not certain, but have read that cavitation can cause a pump to be noisy.

FWIW, the pump on my '81 has the rubber mounts.

And again, FWIW, the '85 parts van I bought, had a pretty noisy pump.
IIRC, it didn't have rubber mounts.
