dear all those still un touched by fire

Last fall i bought a repair manual on CD it promised to offer all stuff for vw up to 2006 it was a 5$ ebay thingy ... when i got it i found it to be a SUN MicroSystems Repair manual from Snap On

to be used as a companion to the electronic equipment available through them ... so i load it onto my laptop and see whats what ... one of the interesting tabs was the one marked Known Factory Safety Recall you clicked on this tab and it then asked you to enter in year make model ... of course i typed in VW vanagon 1989 ... and it immediately opened up on the page telling the story of faulty fuel line installation which may cause fire in some instances it goes on to describe that the fitting used to retain the hose around the nipple is inadequate if i recall there was also some mention as to quality of hose ... (i dont have my lap top with me right now ) anyway ... the point is ... this is a known problem ... it is very likely that we who have vans still on the road are most likely to be caught by the flash... yes elaborate fire suppression equipment might be the next best thing .... but simple elimination of the hazard is best ... and likely cheaper in the end ... thanks for reading ... yours yours
