Congrats!

It seems there's several options for exhaust. As for header exhaust systems, I have heard that some of the header systems that don't last long. Possibly stuff from California Imports, though I'm not certain. The archives may have info regarding this.

On the opposite end of the sound spectrum, Walker makes a "Quiet Flow" "Vanagon" style muffler/tailpipe. I have one just waiting to be installed. I have heard that they are quieter than stock.

There's stainless mufflers too. Something to bear in mind if you have a look around the Vanagon archives.

If you're doing the exhaust work yourself, make sure you soak the nuts that bolt the exhaust flanges to the heads, *well* in advance. You really don't want to snap off a stud from the head. Properly applied heat and penetrating oil (PB Blaster, Liquid Wrench etc.) will be your friends if need be.
