If you really wanted to it would not be very hard to do -- plumb some piping into the engine compartment, connect to an extinguisher located maybe under the back seat, run a pull cable up to the drivers area -- maybe also a fire detector in the engine compartment to sound an alarm. All easy enough to do, and then you have an alarm system and fire suppression system just like an aircraft engine.
