So it looks like Vanagon.com 1.0 has to upgrade to something more Web 2.0 after ten years! Life happens, and people move on, but this community is too valuable to lose. I was on it from 1997 to 2003, and then left when I bought an EVC. I've come back because there is useful info here for anyone who travels, camps, or just tries to keep an out of production VW van on the road.
One suggestion is to move to a supported platform like www.vbulletin.com <http://www.vbulletin.com/> . This platform requires hosting, but the software is not expensive: $160 license fee, and $30 a year for updates. Support is also available for extra $$$. Horror of horrors, we could even post ads!
www.advrider.com <http://www.advrider.com/> , is a pretty slick site you can check out. It's one guy's effort. Register, and play around on it, and share your opinion. I particularly like the thread management, search engine, and journal features.
Has anyone put in a request to transfer Vanagon.com? I just checked, and Vanagon.us.com is available.

BTW, the EV list is on Yahoo! Groups, and it's search engine is almost useless. |
Please note - During the past 17 years of operation, several gigabytes of
Vanagon mail messages have been archived. Searching the entire collection
will take up to five minutes to complete. Please be patient!
