I think it's easy to be enticed by added features such as posting pictures, polls, and better search capability - and I can see where these things would be useful. However, I think that the e-mail list is really the way to go. It could be my limited experience in using the but web forum/bulletin type applications seem a bit confusing to navigate at times - again this could be me. I firmly agree though that they are much less personal and losing the personality from this list community would be a shame. If you want to compare it to something well it's like the difference between a Vanagon and any American mini-van. Sure the minivan gets better gas mileage, is new, has more gadgets and doodads (stock anyway), etc. - However the minivan isn't even close in the personality department. New is good but not always better. If there is e-mail list software that will somehow improve the list in some way - great. Other than that I think we should try to centralize everything so our administrator has access and leave it at that. -- Thanks, Jeff '90 Carat (Grover) '86 (We call this one Parts) '78 Bus (Melissa) Patty's Bus |
