I have managed physical web servers in the past and have developed a preference to use a hosting service in the last few years. A good host will maintain backups, perform updates/upgrades etc. etc. Basically they deal with all of the hassles and provide you with solid, simple server space that is cheaper (for the small guy) than if you did it yourself. Unless someone has access to a great connection and likes to manage hardware then I would think that this would be the best option for the list. Perhaps most importantly administration can be much more easily shared and handed off. If the powers that be want more information I will be willing to help with this as I can. Since it also seems to be up for discussion, I vote that we stay with the email centric format. If I want to surf a forum I'll head to thesamba.comforums etc. Jonathan Poole |
