Given the dismal US market and a huge European following do you think the US speed limit had any consideration during Vanagon's design? Is the flat-4 not ideal for high revs for hours on end due to its perfect primary balance? Was Dr. Ferdinand Porsche wrong? I don't think so.

The flagged speed was a Federal regulator's wet dream come true and had nothing to do with the vehicle's capabilities.
