Makes me wonder why nobody but the reman companies rebuild these things. How hard could it be? Special (expensive) tools? All I know is that the rebuilt compressors I've bought have been junk. Not many, mind you, but I have not been happy about reman compressors. And why are those rebuilds so expensive? More labor involved? Or is it just because people get really cranky when the temps go up and the AC goes belly up and are willing to part with mucho denaro?

Anybody know the scoop on this? Indeed, how hard could that be to rebuild under the shade tree?
