Ja, this is a good point. Some municipalities have "anti-RV" laws, so it's a good idea to check. The "town" of La Quinta outside Palm Springs actually forbids the parking of RVs ANYWHERE within the city limits, private property or not. You have to park them outside the city! It's largely a retirement community with a couple hotels and some golf courses (gas stations are also illegal!), so it's an extreme case, but there are some weird places out there, so I'd call first...
