Subject: Cracked Dash Blues Options? Restoration? Dash Mat?
Content-Type: text/plain; charset="iso-8859-1"

Sadly my dash has developed a bunch of small cracks on the raised ridge close to the windshield, no doubt from 20+ years of UV exposure. You can't see it really from the inside just from the outside but the surface of the flat area that surrounds the ashtray and extends to the ridge has a weird look to it. When I clean it color comes off (I don't think my dash is that dirty). Has anyone used a dash mat? Can you tell me about fit, durability, cost, etc? Does anyone have pics of a dash fitted with a dash mat? How about restoration of the dash pad? Is this a costly proposition? The cracks are small and I was also wondering about some type of DIY resto. Like some type of vinyl filler or something. What about prevention, what dressings are recommended? I hear conflicting stuff about armor all and the like. I can't be the only facing this problem so please chime in with what you did to deal with it.
