There's another point that I think should be made here, and that is that there have been a great many people that have joined the list and left again because of the volume of mail. A BBS would provide an alternative, possibly keep those people in the fold, at least peripherally, instead of driving them off. There would be other benefits, such as posting pictures in the post that refers to them, instead of having them linked out to flickr or some such where they could be 'lost', or disassociated from the post. As I said, I think an effective hybrid would be the best of both worlds; having said that, I would prefer it stay solely email rather than have an ineffective hybrid. Setting up a parallel system would allow us to test and experience the thing before a final decision was made.
