I like the mailing list. I have the option of using Samba or other VW/van bulletin boards but almost exclusively use the mailing list. This is the second technical mailing list I have been a member of and it seems to be a little more "personal", friendly and mature (not all the time!). I don't mind Hawaiian shirt Fridays. I would be sad to see this list go away. I am a new member but I look forward to checking my e-mail each day and reading the messages from my fellow enthusiasts all over the world. There is just something different about a mailing list. I'm not sure what it is. I think maybe people tend to put more thought in to the comments and messages because of the format. I think with bulleton boards it's easy to subconsciously forget there is a real person on the other side and instead communicate to a "user name". It's like the way people are rude to each other while they are driving. They do not associate the other vehicle as human so they say things and make gestures that they would not normally make if they where say cut off in the supermarket.
