The advise I've heard on other non VW camping lists is to always go in and check with the manager before you camp at Wal Mart.

Some stores welcome campers and some don't. Local laws and other concerns may not allow it. I have Wal Marts loaded into my GPS just in case I may need to camp or shop while on the road.

Years ago I pulled into a Wal Mart parking lot near Springfield Missouri in my '74 Westy. It was around 11 pm at night. I wasn't there to camp but to shop. I discovered they were closed and we only pulled in to turn around. A security vehicle came tearing across the parking lot with their lights flashing. I just continued to drive off and ignored them. They followed us out of the lot onto the main road and only discontinued their chase when we got on the on ramp for the highway.
