You're right -- these 84 speedos are just silly.
Mine reads 12% high (as confirmed with GPS and roadside radar sign
telling me my speed). I asked about this a couple years ago and someone
suggested that I "bend" the pointer, which is nuts. I don't think that's
what you meant when you wrote, "the Speedometer can be re-calibrated by
removing the and resetting the needle."
At 40 mph my speedo reads 45 mph. If the needle is "bent" (or rotated on
its shaft, same thing) to read 5 mph lower then it will be accurate when
I'm going 40, but only when I'm going 40. It will claim I'm going 0 mph
when I'm going 5 mph, and when I'm driving 70 mph it will read 65.
Stupid speedometer.
