You can't make out much from this link photo, but in the paper Bike Mag. (June) ad for the event it's real obvious the photo is taken from the cockpit of a Vanagon. Look at the instrument pod by the drivers hand. In the paper mag photo you can easily see the dished part of the steering wheel and the pod/speedometer as well.
 
What other 15/20 year old vehicle is used in advertising? :)Bob Stevens
