This is a gasoline auto. I did run a Carfax and found a couple of issues which may or may not be problems.

Thanks for your replies but I was more interested in the aggregate. i.e. When I say Diesel Westy, you say SLOW. Basically, when a 'known' system (trans, A/C, engine) or make (Skoda, Aeroflat, Flying Pigeon) is reputed to be a problem everyone steers clear. I've heard Mexico Jettas are notorious for electrical fires. I've even steered clear of 'em in the past as soon as I had the VIN and confirmed CoO. I was unclear of the type of experience I was asking about. I wasn't asking about a given specimen but rather a large sampling (worldwide).

So, . . . my original question restated is: Do Mexican Golfs have the electrical problems like the Mexican Jettas?

I'm assuming Jetta's DO have issues, I didn't actually find the data anywhere but after meeting owner after owner, got 'bad feeling'.
