Let 'em become hostile. Everyone has to grow and by molly-coddling them you're inhibiting their maturity. Besides, when's the last time you saw a farmer and his rig react to your hostility when he's in betwixt his fields!? Oh, and keep a cell phone and firearm handy for those truckers who might go 'sideways'.
