Jeez, one day from my first outing of the season a cop tells me my headlights aren't on after pulling out from getting gas. Won't stop the trip as it's all daylight but man it's still a bummer. So I've checked the archives and overwhelmingly the bad ground seems to be the culprit most of the time.

Here's the facts

No low beams or high beams High beam indicator does light Fuses are good Swapped rocker switch with one that was working Checked for voltage at headlight bulbs (All my lights went out within a day of each other in my 01 Jetta, I feared the worse and it just turned out to be, well burned out bulbs) No voltage

Jiggled the "circles of ground" behind the fuse box and no-go

Pulled out relay #8 checked contacts, tapped it, reinserted and no-go

Please help me troubleshoot this, the p.o. included a list of prior repairs w/o documentation and headlight upgrade was listed with no further details. Should I clean each ground spade indvidually or is there somewhere else I should start? Last time I drove at night was in November and the lights did work.

BTW I didn't know there was a fuse box cover, does anyone have a spare to sell in turd brown?

Ryan
