That's consistent with my driving experience. I've always wondered what the mileage would be like if one dropped the speed even lower as Jeff mentioned. I would guess that it would improve, as he said.

The problem I have is that when driving 55 around southern California you're pissing people off, and when I travel I-40 back and forth to New Mexico I usually keep it at a minimum of 60, otherwise I've found that truckers can become very hostile.
