Draining the gas tank to change it. This is a 1984 with the filter
before the pump.

I hooked up a hose to the discharge port on the pump, ran 12v+ to the
pump and pumped out the gasoline into a gas can. With the clogged
screen I was able to pump out 4 gallons that would not just drain out.

Get out what you can as gasoline weights around 6 lbs a gallon and
that weight will be shifting as you take it out.
