I just cut the spot welds that held the sump plate to the bottom of the tank (I'll try and remember to get a photo tomorrow). Looks clean. It looks like the fuel enters the sump by way of that one hole in the middle of the plate (the plate appears to be sealed/glued in place) and comes out by one of those heavy plastic tubes to the pump (gravity? suction?). On the other side of the sump the returned fuel from the engine comes thru a heavy plastic tube to be returned to the sump.
