As I recall, the origator of this thread was asking about the feasibility/sensibility of converting his diesel vanagon to an EV because he could not afford the cost of diesel fuel. I drew no inference that it was his "dream" to electrify a Vanagon for its own sake.

Several of us pointed out that a Vanagon is not a great platform for an EV -- and that if it was a financial burden to buy a tankful of diesel how in the world would he afford a proper EV conversion?

I don't think we were naysaying as much as trying to be realistic.

I personally think a Vanagon would be an interesting platform for a a hybrid -- but not a very practical pure EV.
