First some  questions.

1) Do you have a copy of the Bentley book - "Volkswagen Vanagon Official 

Factory Repair Manual"? If not, order one today from one of our list 
vendors. Not cheap but a "must have" for Vanagon Owners.
2) Do you have a copy of the ETKA - the official VW parts CD - ask some 
of our list members for where to get a copy. Request that they reply off 

list
3) Do you have a copy of the Haynes Vanagon Repair Manual.- This manual 
is a Europe - only book, but Ron Salmon at Bus Depot carries it as a 
regular stock item.

If you don't have all three, the Vanagon cannot be maintained properly, 
nor can proper trouble-shooting be done when there is a problem.

The Temp II sensor is mounted in the thermostat housing which is located 

to the forward left side of the engine, just about directly under the 
firewall. The sensor is blue.

When replacing it, be quick, and you won't lose enough coolant to worry 
about.
