I got to see and hear a Bostig up close at the lumber yard on Bainbridge Island (WA) a couple of weeks ago. Jeff, the owner of the '89 Westy it was in, was more than happy to open the engine compartment and show it off. Jeff said he spent right around $10K including professional installation (around $1200 bucks for labor and incidentals). After hearing that, I know I'd go for the kit! I was somewhat amused to see that Jeff needed to use a pair of vise grips on the hatch struts to hold the hatch open.

It was a thing of beauty though....another finish carpenter (but non-Vanagon related) guy walked over for a look and he couldn't believe it was a conversion and not stock.

Jeff mentioned that he had some vibration issues early on that were resolved by upgrading the engine mounts. I don't know the particulars but perhaps it's something to ask about when considering this conversion. He raved about the great customer service he received from Bostig and has absolutely no regrets. His fuel mileage wasn't any better that the original engine but he blamed the automatic tranny, his right foot and his new driving style.

Andrew

Scott, It looks to me like a deposit of $1575, leaving a balance due of $ at time of shipment. $1575 + 2600 = $4175.

By the way, Jim et al, This really is a beautiful looking kit. You guys are artists. Don
