Thanks for the replies, guys.
My noise is just the general "aerodynamic resistance" noise you get at high
speeds, not a whistle or anything like that. (And none of the vents change
the noise.)
This door seal looks like it might be promising. I also found this on
thesamba:

Looks like a vw equivalent of the same thing.
