An enclosure in the back of a sub is required for it to work properly. It eliminates the wave radiated toward the back of the sub to interfere the wave radiated forward. The size of the enclosure will affect the sub's resonant frequency. When it's too small it raises the resonant frequency. The best resonant frequency of a sub is around 40 - 45 hz (unless I remember it wrong). Normally it will require a very large enclosure to bring the res. frequency down. Most subs use air suspended cone so that the enclosure needed is substantially smaller. But it will need to be fully air tight, no leak. You can buy a small sub and mount it under the driver seat. But the enclosure there will be too small and not air tight. It most likely will not work well. David
