That's a good question. I have an air cooled tranny in my Westy and now I'm curious too though AFAIK, it's all fine right now. There was a thread on this list posted within the last ~ 6- 8 months, about repairing a part in the shift linkage using a part from a different model. I'm not sure which tranny and exactly which part, but it may be worth searching for. Sorry. I can't recall more details.
