Subject: Gas Gen. in Engine space? Nooooo!
Content-Type: text/plain; charset="Windows-1252"

If ever a VW Vanagon pulled in near me to park/camp and fired up a friggin' Generator...I'd be appalled!

Now, I've come to expect it (noisy selfish behavior) from the Bloated Mo-Ho Crowd. They are largely (pun) clueless when it comes to realizing the impact they have on others when they park nearby and fire up their obnoxious generators for their own dubious pleasures..It's just plain not good citizenship to intrude on others in a public space by creating a continuous irritating noise with a gasoline powered generator-but many don't realize that and other's flat don't give a rats-a** about anyone but themselves. If you're in a parking lot or a racetrack or perhaps an OHV park..then the nagging motor noise of a gasoline generator can be expected. Even a forest service campground or a National Park..I guess I've gotten used to that nagging "Tooth-ache" of background noise from the selfish pigs who fire em up then go inside...or pull in nearby with the exhaust pipe of their Onan or Briggs Stratton pointed right at me...who often say.."Well geeze, MY generator isn't noisy, I can hardly hear it, I don't mind it at all" But when you are camping, when you've gone a great distance to get away from the noise and crowds and someone sets up nearby then fires up a generator....that sucks! I try to park where the big pig Mo-Hos can't get close. When that is not possible, I have my earplugs, or... I hope. I often have to re-pack and move away from the late arriving Leisure Suit-folding chair- get the ladder off the back crowd . If I was in a Winnebago-free zone, down some small road or track inaccessible to the huge Ps O. S. and another Vanagon pulled up nearby, I certainly would not mind...but if it fired up a Generator....I'd be crushed! I'd sell my VW and shoot myself...Ugg. Baaad idea, the generator...Go solar or get an extra battery or use a candle and read a nice quiet book..Or stay home and use The Grid for power..

Rant over, Don Hanson
