I just returned from the 1500mile+ maiden voyage of Ducky. Got 28mpg in two places, 299 (OR) and 120 (CA), I never expected it. Spent $250 for Misc (fees/fuses/fun), $300 for Fuel (exactly as expected) and $150ish for Housing (three state cgrounds and one discounted cabin). Spent one night dispersed and one at a Rest Stop lot. The dispersed night was the nicest. In the end, the price of fuel wasn't even a factor. I spent thousands/months restoring my Westy and wanted to recoup some of the time/money and more importantly, I converted me children. They now notice Westies and Vanagons and love ours. They love the pop top the most (asked them this morn). They get upset it I don't see/honk when when they spot another on the road. I can't wait to sip a brew with the locals in Portland next Monday and share my experiences and theirs. Thanks to you all.
