I'm going to transplant a 2.1L into my '84 Westy. The 2.1L I'm buying has a Stebro muffler. How does the muffler mount? I see two brackets poking out the backside of the muffler. Will it work on my '84 ? Do I install the entire 2.1L exhaust?

Since the entire exhaust system on all waterboxer engines are connected to the engine and not the van there is no problem here. Just install the 2.1 L engine in your '84 with the entire 2.1 exhaust system and STEBRO muffler attached as it is - that's it that's all. You did get the 2.1 engine mount (the aluminium piece) with that engine didn't you ? If not then you need the 2.1 engine mount as the one from the 1.9 does not have the muffler mounting points.
