I think Frank Condelli talked about getting one to try. e-Mail: Fkc43@aol.com although it may have been Karl from Westy ventures? Can't remember. If you find a souce, please let me know as I'd like to get one as well. That's a great AH rating for a battery that will fit under the drivers seat rear compartment. By the way, under charging the battery for few days is not going to kill it. You can always buy yourself a smart charger, like the battery minder, and charge it anytime you have sure power. I have mine wired into the plug that the refrigerator goes into. So, any time I run into shore power, I just plug in at 8Amp charge rate it brings a battery up to snuff in no time. It's long-term under charging that will cause a problem. AGM's definitely have their pluses and minuses. Going completely to AGM's is certainly an expensive option, along with increasing the output voltage of the alternator. Let us know how it works out.

The final chapter of my investigation of the VW specific AGM battery. The VW AGM battery, part #, 000 915 105 CC, is made by Interstate for sale to VW only to replace the aux battery in the Eurovan Campers. It is 68 AH and is the same dimensions as a group 41~ 42 battery so fits in the Vanagon's battery boxes under the seats. VW retail price is $220 here at my dealer in Ottawa. I decided to not try it out due to it's high cost. So your on your own here. If anyone wants to work more on this project, go ahead, I'm not interested !

BTW - Interstate is also making for VW dealer sale only, a 92AH AGM battery, VW part #, 000 915 105 CE. It is to replace batteries in Tourags and Pheatons that have more electrical crap than your Westy ! I do not have the dimensions or cost of this battery. Your on your own here again.

Cheers,
