Gracious, Troy -- your suggestion on how to block the side vent is a darn good one!* I was wasting some time and keystrokes blathering about how compressors in general need less venting than the Dometic. I was just saying, is all.

========= * Except for those of us, like me, who haven't seen an large inner tube since they helped their dad change a flat on the family Buick. He used this patch kit that came in a tin like chewing tobacco. It had these big patches, some clamps. I recall him roughing up the inner tube with something that looked like a cheese grater, then clamping the patch to the tube and lighting it with a match. It smoldered for a while, emitting a sulfurous stench. "Vulcanizing," he explained.

Today I don't know if I could find inner tubes for anything larger than bicycle tires within a 75-mile radius of my home in totally urban and suburban California.

I believe there is a black neoprene gasket there right now, just replace that gasket with some inner tube material, and you're home free. If I recall I took the flat metal plate out of mind as well as it's no longer needed. Enjoy your new fridge, but if you're like me, you're probably going to end up replacing your auxiliary battery soon too to accommodate the extra power requirements. > > Troy >
