Canadians are being ripped-off by the importers. I e-mailed one and asked how they can justify selling a 1992 Sprinter Carib wagon (sold in North America as Corolla 4WD) for $a starting range of $7000 Canadian, when $7000NZ will buy a 97-2000 Carib with electric everything. I got nothing but excuses.

A 3.0 turbodiesel Hiace camper here will sell for about $24000NZ. In Canada, I hate to think.

Currently $1.00NZ equals about $0.79US/CD.

Be extremely careful to examine any desired vehicle for rust... unscrupulous importers will bring units in from northern Japan, where they salt the roads, and cunningly disguise the rust (they no longer try this trick in NZ). AND get the green deregistration slip from the Japanese registration authorities... it will state the true milage at the time of sale Japanese exporters as a matter of course ask the buyers how many kilometers they want taken off the odometer... be warned, every vehicle you see on the yard will be clocked!
