With an ice storm like that it's lucky that tree didn't get 'lowered' right onto the vanagon !

'freezing rain' or an 'ice storm'........................ - one of the worst things there is. In the NE, they've had hundreds of miles of power lines downed from a single ice storm that took months to repair. In Portland OR, they do occasionally have freezing rain - which occurs when rain falls from warmer air into air below freezing temp. ( this is much different than how snow or hail is formed ) .... but freezing rain is rare in much of the West Coast. I've never heard it in California, even in the Sierras. Doesn't happen in Southern Oregon either. it might in western washington though, any form of nasty weather is possible and common there.

quiz : What is 'virga' ? ( not viragra )

does this thing type upside down ? i guess not, what's up with that !!!!?? - it's rain that falls and evaporates before it hits the ground.
