Always search the archives FIRST.   Try something like -  floppy mirrors - or some such.  The mirrors can be removed and the 10 mm nut on the bottom removed and then soaked in penetrating oil and with some gentle persuasion the base/foot  can be removed from the mirror part.  and then greased and re-assembled.

The problem with the mirrors is that the nut & bolt that adjust  the tension spring has (most likely) rusted to one fused piece.  This needs to be taken a part and cleaned,oiled  and re-assembled.

Hi, I have an 84 Westy with factory mirrors and i'm looking for some advice or tricks on how to keep them in place while driving on the highway.  Seems that while driving at 65 plus they tend to fold back in towards the doors and if it's windy they will pretty much fold in completely.


Does anyone have any tips on keeping them in place?  Thanks in advance.
