Yea, well, if you do THAT  without first taking all the moving parts out and
cleaning the rust and  corrosion from them and then lube them well and
reassemble them you WILL  crack the plastic housing  -  if it's not already cracked -
 Then  you will just have to throw it in the garbage to join the hundreds of
others and  buy a new one and start life all over again with those crappy
mirrors.
