RE cross shaft bushings ..........I don't find any worn ones, but they
are typically sticky and draggy.
I twist the cross shaft back and forth while a spray a good penetrating
syttheic grease into the bushings until it's really smooth turning.
I lube the ball on the end of the cross shaft lever where the push rod
from the slave pushes on it.
I lube every point where the TOP pivots on the cross shaft fingers.
Be sure to change clutch hydraulic fluid any time you are in that area.
the later 12 point CV screws are much better than the 6mm allen ones -
harder metal, almost never strip out.
Re-tighten your CV joint screws after a few hundred miles.
check the starter bushing in the transaxle - I seldom find a worn one
though, and Bosch rebuilt starters, the only kind i recommend, come with
a new bushing in case you need to change it.
Check how much metal there is on the magnetic drain plug of the
transmission. I use Redline MT-90 synthetic gear oil.
it takes me about 2 or 3 hours to do a simple thing like get a trans
ready to install because I find so many details like this to attend to.
lube the shift linkage from below the rubber boot in the
cockpit...........all the way back to the trans.......on every part that
moves or slides.........about 5 places.
my list of related things to check or service runs about 30 items.
I should just have them on my site ! one of these days !
