Well, it is common to use an EJ22 for a conversion, so there's your LVC.

 

Got passed on the freeway yesterday by a 70's bug with what looked like
a Subaru EJ22 in the engine compartment.  The person had removed the
deck lid and skirt to make it fit.  Didn't get a glimpse of the front
end to see where the radiator was.  Interesting...
