With this winch method, you don't have to lift up the whole car high. In fact, I only lift it up on the side I am planning to pull the engine out at, and only enough that the tire is off the ground. That is enough clearance for the all the things to pass if the engine is on a drip pan that I am sliding on the floor. I just put two holes in it to be able to tie a thin rope on it, so I can pull and navigate it out. It screeches on the ground a bit and its heavy, but you can get it to the garage or anywhere you need it to lift it onto an engine stand with a friend or use a chain block to lift it. So, don't bother lifting the car up much. Zoltan
