I just checked to see if you could get away with using a bolt instead of a stud- nope. the manual trans takes the longer stud, the auto the shorter. you only get 2 of the right studs per entire vanagon I believe , so extras come from dead vanagons usually. scott turbovans : > Just stop in at a local Vanagon repair shop, they should have one > lying around. > > Remember, the manual tranny studs are a different length than for the > automatics.
