I think he had the best "pipes" ever ... maybe 'cept Frank. I saw him at Universal Amphitheatre in L.A. in about '74. Outdoor theatre. At about his 4th number he was retuning his guitar again and said something like: "Havin' trouble keepin' this thing tuned ... it's colder than Quail-shit in a wagon rut in Montana in February 'round here." Great concert. His alcoholism took a lot out of him over the years. My eldest daughter took me to see James Taylor in Denver a couple years ago. Great concert. She grew up while he was playing on our home and car audio systems so we have a lot of great memories. He still sounds wonderful. Full of the zest (Taylor-style) and energy and his sense of humor.I drove my van over for that one (from Salt Lake) RVC. Going over again end of this month .... in my van.
