Subject: Oil leak, now slipping clutch - what seal?

During my last try to Vancouver I started to notice a small table spoon size puddle of oil under my van where the bellhousing meets the engine. Now under full load my clutch is slipping. How do I tell if it is engine oil or gear oil? When cold it is thick, but so is 5w40 engine oil. Since many years now I can't smell very well so that's not an option for me. Color wise I would say it is not as black as engine oil but there could be other contaminates by the time it goes to the outside world.

My thinking is that it is the input shaft of the gearbox seal that went as this can get easy access to the clutch as opposed to the crank shaft seal.
