Yes. I wrote a message that I put 7-8 inches of blocks under the tranny. Well, that is good provided that the car is not higher than one wheel just barely off the ground. With the winch system when I lower the engine to the ground onto the drip pan that I pull out from under the car with a thin rope attached to it, that is enough. If one does all kind of other things that are more difficult and much more trouble, you would need to improvise to accomodate that. That's why I designed the most simpleist, fastest and easiest way. And I would do it this way even if I had a car hoist.
