Hi everyone:

On my way back to NY after spending the last 3 months traveling the length of the US-Mexico border. Prior to this trip I traversed Mexico to the Michoacan coast, which is all to say that my 87 Westy has acquired more than 9000 hard earned miles in the last half year and is need of a well deserved respite. I have 2000 miles to go though before I reach my home in NY's Hudson Valley and hence, I thought I would ask the group for some overnight pop-the-top destinations between Denver and NYC' ish. I'm fairly tired of being on the road so I plan to more or less B-line it but I also want to be cautious not to push the vehicle too much: top speed 60 mph, perhaps 8 hours a day, which means 4-5 nights between Denver and NY. I'm fairly accustomed to pulling off highways to find random places to catch some shut eye but of course, the rest is always best when the camping spot is actually recommended. I'm basically following the google map directions for Denver to Catskill, NY but am willing to detour if anyone recommends good over-night camping spots. I'm traveling with a dog so places that allow for pre and post driving walks are always much appreciated. Thoughts/recommendations? Shooting to leave tomorrow after the Spain/Italy match.

Pura Vida, John Drew 87 Westy 171,000 (2000 more on the way) www.borderstories.org
