Have you see a deal called the "Cool Shirt"? Probably a bit over the top for daily driving. These are used by car racers in very hot conditions..I got mine after racing in Aug. in Nor Cal on the hottest day ever...123f in Redding, Ca.! We got 'red-flagged' during our sprint race and had to sit in our cars in the sun while a crash was cleared on the track. My car was black..My fire suit was hot and I almost passed out..Got the Cool Shirt the next day... A simple idea and not super expensive. They take a Tee-shirt and stitch surgical silicone tubing in a serpentine pattern all over it. You have a small cooler with a snap on top, like a "Little Playmate" lunch cooler. This is filled with ice and water. The cooler has a double hose running out to the shirt. Some quick release fittings connect the cooler to the shirt and a small 12v aquarium pump circulates the ice water through the shirt, keeping you very comfortable, indeed! For a drive through the desert in summer...just the thing...You could put your post-drive refreshments into the cooler, too. Don Hanson

Thanks Wes, its timely as I spent 5 hours driving through Arizona this afternoon. 112 in phoenix, no AC. I was using a regular spray bottle, it really worked but a finer spray seems nice. But I needed to use it almost constantly.

Anyone else have tricks for staying cool? Evaporative cooling works great here, I'm wondering if there's some way to rig it up to to blow out the vents. Maybe you could put the outdoor fan mister - http://tinyurl.com/6b4ox7 - inside the ducting? There's some pretty nice looking units at swampy.net but they're expensive.

cheers- Jeff
