I drove my '84 Westy last night with it's new Bilstein HD shocks all around, I could not believe the difference. The Sach shocks (OE I believe) had 150K on them but there was no bouncing to the van so I though they were still good. They had a lot of resistance when I tried to extend them but less resistance while compressing them. They made the van ride pretty rough when it was empty, kind of like a pickup truck. With the Bilstein HD, the ride is much much smoother, no more rattling the crap out of everything inside when I hit some bumps. I had always blamed the Yokohama 356 tires for the rough ride. Now It's like driving a whole different vehicle, much more pleasant and quiet. Pascal
