OK, the new belt is on. That was a PITA. OK, the belt broke itself off last year and I had not gotten around to replacing it. Where I last left off last year I had a leak of the refrigerant. I had placed some of that leak sealer in there last I remember. Well, when I checked the pressure yesterday the refrigerant was at above the green and into the yellow (caution). Anyway, I started the van (bled the air out of the cooling system first) and the compressor kicks on. The rear AC unit fan back there blowing (and blowing out the mouse nests) but the air is warm still. If I up the revs the compressor sounds noisy. The compressor has really never been used though it is 8 years old. Do I have a bad compressor OR is there some other item to look at? I bought this van back in '96 because it had AC and I've been determined to fix it since then. :( Bryan |
