It comes down to you, do you want the AC? On this last Vanagon I
bought AC was a requirement, a lot of the vans had it taken out for the room.
Spend some money on tools? Go to Harbor Freight and get a vacuum and
an R-134a gauge set up,

the gauge set for $43
go to Walmart or your Flaps and get a conversion kit.
Get the R-12 sucked out and go home and convert it and see if it
works. There is a lot of info in the archives on doing this.
